Movie Review: Before Night Falls

This film is based on Reinaldo Arenas life. He was a great poet and novelist from Cuba back around the 1960's. Reinaldo was a openly gay person and met other men who were just like him. He was able to find himself and explore his true sexuality. The film shows Reinaldo's life and how tough it was for him living as a gay man in Cuba's government. They did not allow this kind of behavior. They found it to not be normal for a man and another man to have sex.

Reinaldo was a very active male. This movie has a couple of sex scenes, which are a little intense. He wants to publish one of his books to a publisher from the United States. He knew if he was able to get his book published he would be able to finally leave Cuba and be a free man in the states. Once the government found out what Reinaldo was planning and charged him for sexually assaulting minors. He got locked away in jail, where the guards and the jail mates would constantly beat him up. He suffered in and out of jail for 10 years. If I keep going I will end up giving you a spoiler.

Personal Thoughts:I find this movie to me very interesting. It's a struggle that many Cubans had to go through back in the sixty's. Even though now it's better then before but it's still bad over there. I was really into this film. Seeing what Reinaldo had to go through was difficult to watch. I cried at the end. This film made a point. I give this movie ♥ ♥ ♥ 3 out of 5 hearts. If you want to get something done you have to do it until it gets accomplished, even if you have to die doing what you love!

Movie Review: Paper Heart

This is a documentary on Charlyne Yi's search to find out Does TRUE LOVE still exist? Charlyne as a child believe that true love only existed in fairytales and films. She felt like she could never love no one due to her strong feelings on love doesn't exist. She interviews people around the united states that have been in love or still in love and married to that person. She even interviews famous comedians such as Seth Rogen, Demetri Martin, and many more.

On her journey she meets Michael Cera (SuperBad & Juno) and they both start to develop a friendship then later turns into a real relationship. But they start to have issues due to since the producers feel like since Charlyne is starting to fall for Michael that they need to film their every move to make sure they don't miss anything. It really starts to bother Michael, because he feels restrained to act and say the things he wants to say, since there's cameras always around them. Even their first kiss was filmed which may them feel more under the pressure.

I really like in this film when the persons being interviewed gave them a story from what happened long time ago with their first loves and Charlyne creates paper string puppets to illustrate the stories. Very creative! By hearing these stories and their responses to why is true love? and when do you know it's real. This movie is a great watch! I recommend for everyone to watch it!

Personal Thoughts
True love only exist when you receive it back!
